What is Theatre Adventure Week? Key City Public Theatre's immersive Theatre Adventure Week brings performing arts into Jefferson County classrooms of 1st - 8th graders. We partner with teachers, and design our activities in coordination with them, to create a unique in-class experience that supports their current curriculum. Our program combines theatrical play, skill building, and ensemble work throughout the week and culminates with 1 - 2 student performances for fellow students, teachers/school administrators, parents/guardians, and the general public.

Educators, parents/guardians, and students play a key role in the development of the art created throughout the partnership: an essential component to the material created, current curriculum, individual students' personalities/skills and community interests are at the heart of the theatrical story shared in performance. One exciting aspect of the program is KCPT's traveling technical theater education kit. This student-friendly theater technology invites students to actively engage in creative facets of theater as not just performers (actors), but also as organizers (stage managers), and as light/sound designers/operators.

Funders of this program include grants from ArtsWA (Arts in Education), Seattle's foundry10, Port Townsend Elks Club, PNW Kiwanis and Port Townsend Kiwanis Club; and Season Education Sponsors Kristin Manwaring Insurance and The Law Offices of Steve Dowdell. School partners include: Port Townsend OPEPO, Quilcene School District and Salish Coast Elementary School.

What is OPEPO? OPEPO is a 1st-5th grade alternative multi-age program within the Port Townsend Public School District, where students work cooperatively with two teacher/facilitators. Currently, OPEPO is comprised of approximately 40-50 students occupying a double classroom on the Grant Street Elementary School campus. The continued success of OPEPO is heavily dependent upon family involvement both inside and outside the classroom. Learn more about OPEPO here!
