Call for Apprentices

Looking to gain professional experience in theater? Applications for apprenticeships at Key City Public Theatre, a small professional theatre deeply rooted in the community of Port Townsend Wa, are now being accepted for the 2022/23 season.

Program Highlights

Our coveted apprenticeship program provides an immersive, hands-on experience for recent graduates or current students looking for a career in the industry and we are looking to fill several vacancies.

Key City Public Theatre offers apprenticeships to recent graduates planning a career in theater and looking to gain professional experience in a facilitated mentored environment.

Apprentices contribute to every aspect of operating a small theater company from full participation in staff meetings, to heading up specific projects, to sharing in everyday administrative and maintenance tasks. Apprenticeships may be tailored to fit the interests of the individual. Production opportunities include the chance to work in technical direction, stage management, design, sound and lighting, and backstage running crew on the mainstage and second-stage productions. Other apprenticeship opportunities include work in literary management; grant writing and development; marketing and publicity; education and outreach; and arts management.

Internships

KCPT offers summer or per-show internships to high school and college students looking to expand their theatrical experiences.  Internships are offered in all areas of production and administration.

Internships are non-paid.  If interns wish to receive academic credit for their internship it is the intern’s responsibility to make arrangements with the sponsoring institution.  Academic credit is up to the discretion of the intern’s high school, college, or university.  KCPT will provide the sponsoring institution with any necessary reports or evaluations.
