In the wilds of the Pacific Northwest, a nature-loving hermit accused of the murder of his nephew fights for his way of life and the safety of his loved ones after finding himself the target of the largest manhunt of its time.

Shakespeare's paradoxical world of intense psychological drama and sensuous romance in which morbid jealousy leads to death, estrangement, and loss. This very human story chock-full of very real and often very dangerous human emotion is miraculously brimming with hope.

By William Shakespeare

Shakespeare in the Park

Midsummer Nights: A Festival of Dreams

August 2 - 4, 2024

What happens when a group of frenzied clowns take a stab at performing "Pyramus and Thisbe"? They become the Mechanical Maniacs! Adapted from William Shakespeare's "MIDSUMMER..."

August 16 - 18, 2024

Dacha Theatre (with KCPT alum, Emily Huntingford) returns with their most challenging feat- their Shakespeare DICE series, in which a small company of actors memorizes the entire script of a classic play, and the audience rolls dice each night to determine who plays who. You may recall they previously brought Romeo and Juliet to Chetzemoka Park and this year they wrap up our summer season with the most magical outdoor play, Midsummer.

August 9 - 11, 2024

Deep in the Catskill mountains, Camps Bluster and Hill-a-Wee are set into chaos as Theseus arrives to announce that he's bought the land and must close one of the camps to make way for his new wife's mansion and horse farm. His son Demetrius and fellow camper Lysander must now lead the boys in a winner-take-all talent show against the girls, led by Hermia and Helena, to determine which camp must be demolished at sunrise by Bottom and his comic crew of workers. All the while, King Oberon is vexed by his queen and sets his trusty aide, Puck, to scatter magic, confusion, and a good dose of laughs across the forest. By: Terrance Patrick Hughes.

Holiday Extra

December 24, 2024

1:30PM & 7:00PM

Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has been adapted, produced, and will be performed by Allen Fitzpatrick.

Allen follows in the footsteps of Dickens who, a few years after writing the novella, began public presentations which Dickens continued to perform until the year of his death. The novella captured the zeitgeist of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday, popularizing many aspects of Christmas celebration including family gatherings, seasonal food and drink, dancing, games, and a festive generosity of spirit. It clearly shows a path by which selfish, acquisitive men may redeem themselves. But its most important theme is to shine a glaring light on the mistreatment of impoverished people. Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol to elicit British social reform; his impassioned desire was to show the repercussions of ignoring those living in poverty, especially children.

The story's been told in over a hundred adaptations for stage, film, opera, and radio. Key City Public Theatre audiences will have the unique opportunity to use the full range of their imaginations through this presentation by a single actor on a bare stage.

Teen Initiative

July 5 - 14, 2024

It's 1987 and Lizzie Bennett has a lot on her plate: annoying little sisters, an overbearing mother, crazy teachers, not to mention the preppy Will Darcy, a recent transfer from a local private school. Along with her best friends Jane and Charlotte, Lizzie navigates the tempestuous world of high school, boys, and really big hair in this campy adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel.

Pride and Prejudice and Perms is written by Kathleen McDowell and directed by Anna Munn.

2024 Show Finished! 2025 Teen Initiative pending!
