Theatre Adventure Club
Grades 1-2 in Port Townsend, Grades 3-6 in Chimacum
Channel your creativity into theatrical play!
Welcome explorers to Theater Adventure Club!
In this class, students begin foundational theatre techniques through games and exercises, while exploring self-expression and creative play.
This class is designed as an introductory course for students who have perhaps expressed an interest in theatre, but have yet to try it! These classes are great for building confidence and learning important social skills. Get ready to laugh, play, move, and explore characters!
There will be a showcase on the last day of class for family and friends, 15 minutes before the end of class.
This class is recommended as a prerequisite for Drama Fundamentals.
Drama Fundamentals
Grades 3-5
Are you ready to act?
Students explore the fundamentals of drama and develop the building blocks of character and storytelling through a theatrical lens. While continuing their foundational techniques they learned in Theatre Adventure Club or previous classes, Drama Fundamentals encourages students to keep diving in! Build characters, begin scene work, explore improvisation, and keep the magic of ensemble building.
There will be a showcase on the last day of class for family and friends, 15 minutes before the end of class.
This course is great for new students and returning students who want to focus on scene work and improvisation.
Theatre Academy
Theatre Academy is an advanced class for returning students. The focus of this class evolves every session to provide students with new theatre techniques to expand their artistic tool box. The curriculum is customized to reflect the student’s personal interests and skills. Previous focuses have been audition technique, musical theatre, stage combat, and physical theatre.
There will be a showcase on the last day of class for family and friends, 15 minutes before the end of class.

Summer Theatre Camps
Every summer, we offer week-long camps for ages 8-15. These day camps provide an immersive experience for students of all levels to deepen and expand skills taught throughout the year. They are also an excellent introduction to the fun and creativity of theatre arts education. Each camp results in a showcase for friends and family to highlight their experience during the immersive week.
These popular camps that engage youth in fun, creative ways outdoors at Worthington Park (Quilcene) generally sell out, so early registration is recommended.
Note: Class Performance will take place 15 minutes before pickup on Thursday, the final class day!
Meet Our Instructors
Brendan Chambers acts as the Head of Education/ Artistic Associate and is in his ninth year working as a key artistic staff member at Key City Public Theatre. He holds a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master’s degree in Educational Theatre from New York University. He has directed and performed in over a dozen mainstage productions. He has led and helped develop Key City’s education program, mentoring Teaching Artists and creating curriculum and programs for schools in Jefferson County.
Gabs Nathanson (they/she) is the resident stage manager, assistant production manager, and teaching artist for KCPT. They have been the lead mentor for the Teen Take Over program in the summers for the last two years working with teens in the community to put on a full mainstage production. Gabs has also created a workshop designed to teach participants of all ages how to be mindful of their bodies during movement leading to a somatic approach towards all types of movement-taught at Diversionary Theater. Before they moved, they have been a teaching artist with PLNU’s Center for Justice and Reconciliation: kNOw MORE Human Trafficking Prevention and awareness program using theater, improv, and group activities to children ages 11-17 all over San Diego County.
Macey Trussell is a resident teaching artist who began working with Key City Public Theatre after relocating to the Olympic Peninsula in 2026. She started her journey with theatre education in her final years of high school, working as a teaching assistant and then production director for Children’s Educational Theatre in Salem, Oregon. Among many other performing accolades, she won first place in Women’s Musical Theatre for the National Student Auditions (NATS). After graduating in 2022 with her Bachelor of Music at Oklahoma City University, she became an active performer and educator in the Oklahoma City arts community. In her time as a performer she worked with Painted Sky Opera and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma as an educational outreach artist. While she loves performing, her true passion lies with teaching. Working as a private voice teacher and a musical theatre camp leader for Meg Wynne Music in OKC, Macey has developed skills instructing students on vocal techniques, developing musical theatre curriculum, working as a collaborative pianist, and encouraging self expression through musical storytelling.
Apprentices
Elaine Tosado earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and Los Angeles. As an Apprentice at KCPT, Elaine mentors for student performances and has been featured on the KCPT Stage, most notably in Bark! The Musical (April-May 2026), and As You Like It Performance Intensive (August 2026).
Samuel Phillips is an apprentice at Key City Public Theatre. He is a recent graduate from Kenyon College with a BA in English and Drama. Throughout his collegiate career, he gathered hands-on experience in stage management, direction, acting, design, and playwriting/dramaturgy. He has over five years of experience in summer youth programming.

Our Chimacum Sessions are held at the Chimacum Grange conveniently located across from the School.

We work with the school district to provide a safe and approved meeting point at the school where we then walk students across the street to The Grange. Details on this will be forthcoming.
Our Port Townsend Sessions are held at the Brigid's Loft (formerly Jefferson Community School) conveniently located downtown, 1.5 blocks from the Theater.
